Why I am running

My name is Kate Huggins, and I am running for a seat on the West Milford Town Council.
I grew up in West Milford and am currently studying politics at Passaic County Community College. You may have even met me before because I work at both Utopia and Jessie's. I’ve probably made you an Italian combo! 

I am running for simple reasons; I love our town and I love the outdoors.  I want better sidewalks because I want it to be safe to walk around town.  Our town is full of people who need  a safe place to ride bikes, quads and  motorcycles.  One suggestion for solving that issue might be closing East Shore Road on Sundays.

And I'm willing to get in and do the work. That was me you saw cleaning up the litter across from McDonald's.

I want the young people in this town, like myself, to know that local politics is about them and encourage them to get involved.  

I am running as a Democrat, despite knowing that we are outnumbered in West Milford. My values, however, currently align closer with the Democratic Party. But my focus is and will be local, on improving life in our town. I believe I can bring a fresh perspective to many long-simmering issues. 

I will work for you to build community and to preserve our outdoorsy way of life. I hope l can count on your vote.
